Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic, founded in 1895, was based on the science of the day. Today it continues the tradition of constantly improving itself and developing its knowledge of the spine and nerve systems. Recognizing the importance of body structure and function, modern chiropractic can be considered an essential ingredient in today’s busy lifestyle.
The aim of chiropractic is to address the root of the problem. The spine and nervous system are of vital importance because of their role in controlling posture, pain, mental focus, and functional, healthy movement.
A major aspect of Chiropractic Care is patient education. I strive to inspire and motivate people to make healthy decisions and stay pain free through preventative care. I believe in providing the best in evidence based care available and consistently learning more to better myself.
So, where is pain from?
Our nerve system controls every part of our body. This includes our senses, our physical movement, and all of the internal organ function. Ageing, falls, traumatic injury, sports injury, sitting, standing too long, etc., may effect people of all ages. Over time (or right away) they may develop sub-optimal nerve function which leads to dysfunctional movement patterns. Dysfunction can trigger inflammation and pain. Left untreated this can lead a small problem to become a larger problem and spread to other tissues. Pain is like the fuel light on a car’s dashboard telling the owner that it needs to put fuel in or else something serious will happen.
Our bodies are amazing and self healing. There are limitations to healing. Factors that influence healing include environmental stimuli like diet, exercise, rest and levels of rejuvenation. Chiropractors can help to guide a patient towards a more balanced and healthy lifestyle. A well adjusted spine and nervous system can play a large role in maintaining your ideal lifestyle.
How can Chiropractic help?
With consistent spinal adjustment over time there tends to be less dysfunction and better symmetry. Other benefits of spinal adjustment may include improvements in arm and leg coordination, brain function (frontal cortex), and well being.
Classic Chiropractic care consists of importantly placed spinal and limb adjustments. Adjustments serve the purpose of assisting in body-brain stimulation and spinal alignment. Adjusting you towards a more uniform spinal function and structure. The goal is to eliminate dysfunction and strengthen healthy function of the whole body.
Often people will come in with a lot of pain. I have studied and practiced several manual therapy techniques to assist patient’s ongoing pain relief and maintenance care. Often I will integrate muscle release techniques, acupuncture, and spinal stability exercise for the spine. I am currently practicing in the South Brisbane area and providing Chiropractic Care in Moorooka and the surrounding areas. My vision is to assist people in making better decisions towards longevity, happiness, and health.
