Receiving regular chiropractic adjustments saved patients from almost 2 weeks per year of bothersome low back pain while only experiencing an average increase in 1.7 chiropractic appointments per year according to a recent study published in 2018.
“Maintenance Care was more effective than symptom-guided treatment in reducing the total number of days over 52 weeks with bothersome non-specific LBP… Maintenance Care should be considered an option for tertiary prevention.”

In addition to regular adjustments, chiropractors strive to educate their patients about their body and to have a deeper understanding of how the body works to heal. Getting adjusted over time assists the posture, mobility, and overall function of the spine.
I often relate to people the idea that getting your spine adjusted is like servicing your vehicle, if you leave it too long the parts wear out and the engine light comes on. That engine light is like your symptoms of back pain, sciatica, pins and needles, etc.. My hope is that we can educate people about getting to know their bodies and understanding that prevention and maintenance adjustments are just as important to the spinal system as that pain relieving acute phase of care.
If you are struggling with back pain and are one of those die hard types holding out until your back is truly broken before getting help, I can offer you the evidence above in addition to my clinical experience which agrees with the above as reason enough to get your back checked out by a chiropractor and treated if necessary. No one needs to suffer needlessly in this modern age of manual therapy.
